Following the success of the Oakley Surf Shop Challenge in the USA the concept will return to Europe in 2014 with a 16 team winner take all format. The concept originated in Southern California during the 80's as Surf Shops battled each other for the prize of best surf shop to shred. The event expanded under Oakley and Surfer Magazine to become the most important surf event on the calendar for the surf shops across all of the USA.
The Oakley Surf Shop Challenge – Europe Edition will host key retailers from France and Spain as well as some selected international invitees. It provides the opportunity for Oakley to showcase new and existing product, obtain direct retailer feedback, conduct research and development etc. All of this is done in a fun, cool and friendly event atmosphere at the beach.
The first editions were held in France and Spain in 2013 and saw SB3 win the European Super Final and an all-expense paid trip to the Oakley Pro WCT event in Bali, Indonesia. The event is scheduled for the beginning of June at Anglet and will see 16 teams battle it out for a VIP trip for four to California.
