SURFER Magazine's 2011 Oakley Surf Shop Challenge (OSSC) makes its fifth stop at Ala Moana Bowls on the South Shore of Oahu on July 8. With several of the islands top shops signed up to compete, along with multiple teams flying in from outer islands, the stage is set for a fierce competition.

This year's roster consists of several big names including, Kai Barger (surfing for Local Motion), Joel Centeio (surfing for Hawaiian Island Creations), and new to the Town and Country team, Makua Rothman. The teams will need all the help they can get defending against four-time Regional Champions, Town and Country, who are hungry to keep their reign and make it, once again, to the National Championships at Huntington Beach in September.

Along with Makua Rothman, Town and Country added Kalei Uemoto to their strong roster, which also includes OSSC regulars Travis Hashimoto and last year's regional MVP Dustin Cuizon. When asked about their approach for this year's competition, Hashimoto said, "We all know the surf spot well, so we'll just take things in stride as the day goes on." Regarding the team that they are most worried about, Hashimoto mentioned, "The team that has been at our heals is Quiksilver. They always give us a run and almost beat us last year."

Quiksilver (2006 Regional Champs) and Pacific Vibrations (2005 Regional Champs) are both eager for a chance to regain the title. With several big names and well-respected surfers participating this year, the surfing is sure to step up a notch and present competing teams with an action packed day.
